20 Years of Inspiring and Training Leaders

For 20 years, former US Vice President Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project have been training global leaders, equipping organizers, and building the networks to move climate solutions from ideas to results.

It started in 2006, when Vice President Gore followed the global success of “An Inconvenient Truth” by inviting 50 people to a barn on his family’s farm outside Nashville to learn about the climate crisis – and how to make a difference.

Those first 50 in a Tennessee barn have grown into a global movement, with tens of thousands of trained Climate Reality Leaders from 195 countries and a worldwide network of 4.5 million.

Over the past 20 years, this network of “super activists” has helped build the political will and popular support fueling landmark wins from the Paris Agreement to the Inflation Reduction Act in the US to the Climate Change Act in South Africa. They’ve helped expand solar, wind, and electric vehicle deployment and shut down or delayed fossil fuel infrastructure. They’ve worked with frontline communities to demand just climate solutions. And so much more.

In 2026, our experienced network is uniquely well positioned to help drive the next major phase of climate action worldwide, with the track record, numbers, reach, and resources to help shift the global transition to clean energy into high gear. And we’re ready to add even more “super activists” to our worldwide movement.
