Email your mayor for the Global Week of Action

Take action by emailing your mayor or local leaders to urge them to bring cheap clean energy to your community. 

We’ve created a sample email and additional talking points you can use as a starting point. Tip: personalize the email for maximum impact and do so politely and respectfully. 

Find your mayor or local leaders’ email addresses by searching “email address for [your city]” on your favorite search engine. Or use this website if you live in the US, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, or New Zealand. 

Many local government offices offer forms on their websites as ways to contact officials instead of email. Use whichever works best for you. 

Sample email:

Dear [Your mayor or local leader(s) name(s)],

My name is [your name] and I'm writing today to urge you to bring cheap clean energy to [your city/community].

Continuing to rely on expensive and dirty fossil fuels means electricity prices will continue to rise here in [your city/community]. Fossil fuel energy also pollutes the air we breathe and accelerates the climate crisis worldwide. We just can’t afford it.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Today, clean energy is the cheapest form of new energy almost everywhere. Transitioning to clean energy here in [your city/community] is the most effective way to keep electricity bills down, protect our community’s health, and tackle climate change.

That’s why I've joined over thousands of others from around the world in signing a petition urging you and other local leaders to lead the way in bringing cheap clean energy to our communities.
