Follow-up with your mayor

June 1–7, 2026

Send a follow-up email to your mayor or local leaders to keep advocating for clean energy.

Below is an example of an email you can send, and here are some additional talking points, but it will be more powerful if you personalize it. Just remember to be polite and respectful.

Find your mayor or local leaders’ email addresses by searching “email address for [your city]” on your favorite search engine. Or use this website if you live in the US, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, or New Zealand. Submitting a webform on your local government’s website instead of sending an email works as well.

Sample email:

Dear [Your mayor or local leader(s) names],

My name is [your name] and you’ve been hearing a lot from me this week about bringing cheap clean energy to [your city/community].

I'd like to reiterate one last time how important this issue is to me, [your city/community], and communities across the globe. As part of The Climate Reality Project’s Global Week of Action this past week, thousands of concerned citizens in over 20 countries across six continents reached out to hundreds of mayors and local leaders to bring the same clean energy message you’ve heard from me.

We reached out to you and other local leaders to encourage you to lead the way in bringing cheap clean energy to our communities. You understand the needs and priorities of our community so much more than national leaders, and you can tailor solutions to how we live here.

Please keep me informed about your clean energy plans and projects for [your community] by contacting me at [your email].
