Al Gore Honors Liz Soychak and Rosane Archery-McGowan with Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award in Nashville Climate Leadership Event
Nashville, Tennessee (June 10, 2026) – Today, former US Vice President and founder of The Climate Reality Project Al Gore presented the Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award to the Greater New Orleans chapter co-chairs, Liz Soychak and Rosane Archery-McGowan, at the conclusion of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training.
The Green Ring Award is one of the highest honors given by The Climate Reality Project, recognizing Climate Reality Leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to climate education and advocacy.
As the Southern chairs of the Greater New Orleans chapter, a fully volunteer group, Liz and Rosane consistently drive real change in their community through well-established local partnerships with powerful environmental justice advocates such as RISE St. James, The Descendants Project, Healthy Gulf, the Center for International Law, Inclusive Louisiana, GreenARMY, and more.
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Liz and Rosane became Climate Reality Leaders through a virtual training event, and have used their advocacy skills to help the Greater New Orleans chapter address systemic air and water pollution, by educating the community and fighting for legislation the addresses the health and environmental degradation of Cancer Alley.
“Liz and Rosane are a powerhouse duo. They embody what it means to be Climate Reality Leaders, and we are honored to recognize the grassroots power they have built over the last six years through their community organizing efforts and advocacy support for legislation that seeks to end harmful pollution,” said Phyllis Cuttino, president and CEO of The Climate Reality Project. “Liz and Rosane’s teamwork is a testament to the power in community and the network Climate Reality Leaders build and sustain every day. The more we work in support of one another, the more we can accomplish.”
The Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award presentation capped a two-day Leadership Corps training in Nashville. Over the next few weeks, 40 half-day satellite training events in 28 states across the country will come together and mark 20 years of The Climate Reality Project and the advocacy network of over 50,000 trained Climate Reality Leaders around the globe.
