Two-day Climate Reality Leadership Corps training to bring together participants from across the region from 8–9 September 2026
Former US Vice President Al Gore and The Climate Reality Project to Convene Southeast Asian Climate Leaders on Singapore
Singapore — 15 July 2026 — The Climate Reality Project, a nonprofit climate organization founded by former US Vice President Al Gore, will host an in-person climate leadership training event in Singapore from 8–9 September 2026 – the first ever in Singapore. The two-day training will bring together participants from across Southeast Asia for an immersive program designed to deepen understanding of the climate crisis, translate awareness into action, and equip participants with the knowledge, tools, and networks to drive meaningful change in their communities.
Few areas have been hit as hard by climate change and the global energy crisis as Southeast Asia. The recent energy crisis sent prices soaring and constrained many aspects of life and work in a region expected to account for 20% of global energy demand growth in the coming decade. Meanwhile, rising seas and increasing extreme weather mean the region will need an estimated US$210 billion in annual investments in climate-resilient infrastructure through 2030, requiring innovative funding mechanisms, regional cooperation, and community-level action to meet the challenge. As a global financial center and leader in green capital, and ahead of its upcoming ASEAN chairmanship in 2027, Singapore provides an opportune setting to convene experts, practitioners, advocates, and emerging leaders who can accelerate clean energy investment throughout the region. The training offers an opportunity to collaborate on shared climate challenges while accelerating the practical solutions needed to address them.
“Singapore's role as a leading hub of clean energy innovation and financer in the region makes it an ideal place to convene the next generation of climate leaders and build the momentum for action that the climate crisis demands,” said former US Vice President Al Gore. “Southeast Asia can and must be at the forefront of building a global economy that is more resilient than ever before.”
Participants will hear directly from Vice President Gore on the climate challenges facing Southeast Asia, learn how to drive policy change at every level, and connect with regional climate leaders driving climate solutions in every sector. The training will also explore cross-border collaboration opportunities that could help reshape the region's clean energy future, establish real energy security, and create a hub of green innovation and finance.
Confirmed speakers at the Singapore training include Lian Pin Koh, vice president of sustainability and resilience and chief sustainability scientist at the National University of Singapore, one of Asia’s most-cited conservation scientists, as well as Renzo Guinto, associate professor at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute at the Duke-NUS Medical School, one of the world’s pioneers in the emerging field of planetary health.
Other speakers span global climate leadership, academic and scientific expertise, and regional practitioners working across climate solutions, urban resilience, planetary health, philanthropy, and clean energy transition, including:
- Phyllis Cuttino, President and CEO of The Climate Reality Project
- Golda Hilario, Director for Urban Development, Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC)
- Almo Pradana, Director of Climate, Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory
- Aimee Oliveros, Philippines Branch Manager, The Climate Reality Project
By attending the training, participants will join the Climate Reality Leadership Corps – an expansive community of Leaders personally trained by Vice President Gore – and become part of a global network of 4.5 million world changers from 196 countries and territories, all working to build public understanding of the climate crisis and advance practical climate and clean energy solutions.
