Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (August 2025) – The Climate Reality Project, a nonprofit climate organization founded by former US Vice President Al Gore, will host a major in-person training event in Ulaanbaatar from 2-3 October.

It will be the 61st Climate Reality Leadership Corps training to take place since The Climate Reality Project’s formation in 2006, and the first time that Climate Reality comes to Mongolia. The Ulaanbaatar training is the fourth stop on the organization’s REALITY® Tour of trainings to build demand for ambitious global climate action leading up to COP 30 in November.

The 2025 REALITY® Tour has seen The Climate Reality Project go around the globe, to Paris, Nairobi, and Rio de Janeiro, bringing people together to learn about the climate crisis and build skills to drive solutions forward. Alongside these in-person events throughout the year, Climate Reality is giving global audiences access to exclusive training content on a free online platform, including Vice President Gore’s signature climate presentation.

Coming just weeks before critical COP 30 climate talks in Brazil, the training in Ulaanbaatar will be an opportunity for attendees to network with other environmental advocates and change-makers, learn about the latest climate science and solutions, and strengthen their climate communication and advocacy skills. The training will explore how a grassroots movement in Mongolia can build political will for energy independence and harness the country’s tremendous renewable energy potential to accelerate the transition away from coal power. The training will also examine opportunities to scale up green financing for clean energy and highlight complex climate justice issues, including the impacts of coal pollution on public health, protecting traditional nomadic communities and heritage, and tackling desertification in the biodiverse grasslands of the Mongolian steppe.

Participants will hear directly from Vice President Gore about climate impacts and solutions in Mongolia. They will also hear from a roster of high-level speakers, including Phyllis Cuttino, president and CEO of The Climate Reality Project; Oyun Sanjaasuren, director of external relations at the Green Climate Fund; Joojin Kim, CEO of Solutions for Our Climate; and others.

The realities of the climate crisis are ever present in Mongolia. Historically, the nation has relied on its fossil fuel reserves, but with the dangers of burning coal becoming increasingly clear in poisonous air pollution and growing extreme weather events, the people of Mongolia have a unique opportunity to chart a different path,” said former US Vice President Al Gore, “At our training in Ulaanbaatar, we’ll explore how Mongolia can harness its abundant renewable energy resources and empower participants to take action to create a cleaner and healthier future for the nation. We aim to foster collective action and high-impact campaigns and help attendees navigate the geopolitical challenges that have prevented progress in the past.

Attendees will join the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, the nucleus of Climate Reality’s global network of 3.8 million supporters and catalysts for change, consisting of climate advocates, business leaders, elected officials, entrepreneurs, concerned citizens, and students dedicated to taking the lead on climate action.

Applications for the Ulaanbaatar Climate Reality Leadership Corps training are now open. Visit the site to find out more and apply. The training will be offered in Mongolian with selected sessions in English with simultaneous translation. Application closes September 1.
