Statement by Phyllis Cuttino on the Endangerment Finding
“The Trump administration’s proposal to rescind the endangerment finding – the backbone of federal climate regulation – is a blatant rejection of established science and our undeniable reality. Their choice is not just to ignore, but to accelerate, this crisis which is endangering people, the planet, and our collective future.
The EPA’s mission is to protect the environment for the wellbeing of us all. Instead, the Trump-Vance Administration’s EPA is eroding bedrock science and shirking their responsibilities to further enrich the fossil fuel industry. Their efforts to bury the science, ignore the facts, and peddle misinformation can’t obscure the reality before us.
Unchecked pollution from fossil fuels drives up rates of asthma, heart and lung disease, and premature death. Across the country, Americans are suffering the devastating health and economic impacts of extreme heat, flooding, and wildfires – climate disasters fueled by the relentless release of greenhouse gases into our atmosphere.
The Climate Reality Project fights disinformation and denialism. We are committed to upholding the founding principles of the EPA, standing for evidence-based science, and deploying solutions to protect communities from the escalating human and economic costs of the climate crisis.”
