Power Up Training: From Acts to Action | April 2023

ORIENTATION COMPONENTS

These on-demand videos will be available to all trainees starting on Friday, April 6. The combined viewing time of all four videos will be around 40 minutes. All videos are required.  

  • Welcome Address 
  • Introduction to The Climate Reality Project 
  • Introduction to the Training and the Climate Reality Leadership Corps 
  • Introduction to Climate and Environmental Justice History 

 

BROADCASTS

Both broadcast sessions are required, and each will last 90 minutes. Trainees may complete the training by watching the recording of any broadcast missed.   

Broadcast 1 will introduce the training and set the scene for the on-demand issue panels and skill-building sessions to come. Former Vice President Al Gore will give a presentation on the existing climate science and impacts, highlighting the role that the IRA and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will play in driving solutions.  

Broadcast 2 will deepen the conversation by sharing examples of how these laws are coordinated at the federal level and implemented across states and local communities.  The broadcast will conclude with the introduction to Our Climate Moment: From Acts to Action, Climate Reality’s newest campaign to raise awareness of the IRA and bring its benefits to communities across the US.

ON-DEMAND ISSUE PANEL SESSIONS

These videos will be available on the platform between April 6 and April 20 for you to watch at your own pace. One session is required to complete the training.

  • A Conversation on Implementation  
  • Justice at the Forefront 
  • The IRA and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Across Sectors 

 

ON-DEMAND SKILL-BUILDING SESSIONS

These videos will be available on the platform between April 6 and April 20 for you to watch at your own pace. One session is required to complete the training.

Examples of skill-building session that may be offered:  

  • Navigating Individual Incentives 
  • Navigating Small Business and Organization Incentives  
  • Advocating for the IRA and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in Your Community 
  • Presenting the IRA to Your Community
  • Campus Climate Action: Youth Advocacy  

 

ON-DEMAND LIGHTNING TALKS

These 5-10 minute videos will be available on the platform between April 6 and April 20 for you to watch at your own pace. One session is required to complete the training.

Areas that may be covered include:  

  • Insight from Federal Agencies 
  • Household Electrification 
  • Educational Institutions
  • Vehicle Transportation 
  • Building Materials 

 

OPTIONAL INTERACTIVE SESSIONS

These are examples of optional interactive sessions.  

  • Speed Networking 
  • Grant Success Stories: Share experiences of applying for federal grants 
  • Power Mapping: Leveraging Your Communities
  • Regional Climate Reality Leadership Corps Chapter Meet-Ups
