Leasing Our Land, Fueling Climate Change

Last December, 195 nations came together and made history, reaching the breakthrough Paris Agreement to limit greenhouse gas emissions and fight climate change. But our work isn’t over! We have to take the Paris Agreement and make it a reality. So, the question now is, how do we do it?

The US government is in the process of reviewing the federal coal program and initiated a moratorium on new coal leases on federal lands while it does. Halting – and ultimately ending new leases means less coal going to power plants, which means less carbon pollution going into the atmosphere and driving climate change. Which is crucial to fulfilling the promises that we made in Paris.

Check out the infographic below to see what the US coal moratorium and federal coal program review has to do with the Paris Agreement, carbon pollution, and our public lands. And if you think it’s handy, share it with your friends on Facebook or Twitter.
