Clare McCarthy is a fourth-year student at Emory University, majoring in environmental sciences and minoring in community building. She is also pursuing an MPH in environmental health through a dual-degree program with Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health. She has been involved with The Climate Reality Project Campus Corps: Emory University Chapter since she attended her first-ever climate strike on Emory’s campus in 2019. Clare became a trained Climate Reality Leader in 2020 and served as the chapter chair of the Emory Campus Corps from 2021-2022. During her time as chair, she re-established the Emory Climate Coalition, a collaborative network of climate-oriented student groups. She worked alongside the former vice chair and other student leaders to spearhead a campaign to hold the Emory administration to stronger climate accountability.
Outside of climate work, Clare is a student coordinator of Volunteer Emory and a player on Emory’s ultimate frisbee team. In her free time, she loves distance running, hiking, and exploring farmers markets and coffee shops in Atlanta.
