    New Orleans, LA

The Climate Reality Project: New Orleans, LA Chapter is a dedicated group of climate activists hailing from the greater New Orleans metro area including southern Mississippi and southern Louisiana. The chapter began following the Atlanta training, with a group of fifteen individuals interested in moving the needle in their own backyard. Since their inception, the chapter has achieved several wins by working in alignment with partner organizations including a monthly public educational event, numerous targeted educational events (such as educating southern Mississippi utilities), administrating and supporting the development of the Greater New Orleans Interfaith Climate Coalition, working with Energy Future New Orleans to obtain a commitment from the New Orleans City Council (the utility regulator) to achieving 100 percent clean and renewable energy by 2040, fighting against environmentally destructive legislation, and joining the Coalition Against Death Alley to stop the development of fourteen new Formosa plastic plants and enforce EPA chloroprene standards at the Denka plant. All this work continues.
