Dr. Grace Tee Lewis is a senior health scientist at Environmental Defense Fund. Trained in environmental epidemiology, she researches health impacts of criteria and hazardous air pollutants, particularly among environmental justice communities. Dr. Tee Lewis supports community-based organizations in the Houston region and beyond by providing technical and scientific support for their advocacy efforts and assisting in development and implementation of environmental justice action plans. Dr. Tee Lewis also focuses on strategies to improve regional air quality, monitoring, and public health. Her work includes mapping and development of data-driven tools to identify, prioritize, and visualize risk factors contributing to neighborhood vulnerability from inequities in climate, environment, health, infrastructure, and social stressors. She co-led development of HGB Enviroscreen and the Climate Vulnerability Index, a new nationwide screening tool to identify disadvantaged communities and understand drivers of reduced resilience and heightened climate-related impacts at the neighborhood level.
