Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the US. In fact, cars and trucks alone account for over one-quarter of all US emissions. So the Obama Administration worked with automakers like Ford Motor Company to continue implementing ambitious-but-achievable fuel efficiency standards for new cars and trucks.
Bill Ford and Ford Motor Company worked with lawmakers, environmental groups, and other auto companies to make meaningful progress in the fight for climate solutions. But now, the company is making a U-turn and working with President Trump and his cabinet of Big Oil insiders to roll back these critical standards.
It’s simple: If you clean up vehicle emissions, you cut down on carbon pollution. (In a big way!)
By 2025, the existing standards are projected to:
- Save Americans $1.7 trillion in fuel costs.
- Prevent about 6 billion metric tons of greenhouse gases from entering our atmosphere.
- Reduce US oil consumption by 2.2 million barrels a day.
Ford was part of the solution – they should know that we can’t afford to make a U-turn on the progress we’ve made. Ask Bill Ford to defend existing vehicle emissions standards that protect our planet, our health, and our future.
