Statement From Ken Berlin, President and Ceo of the Climate Reality Project, on the Trump Administration’s Authorization of the Keystone Xl Pipeline

Today, the Trump administration issued a permit authorizing construction of the Keystone XL pipeline across the U.S. border, reversing President Barack Obama's decision. President and CEO of The Climate Reality Project, Ken Berlin, released the following statement in response.

“The Trump administration’s decision to greenlight the Keystone XL pipeline is shortsighted and dangerous. Hundreds of thousands of Americans have repeatedly and vocally expressed opposition to this project because of the potential damage to the climate, potential water pollution, impact on farmers, and the fact that tar sands are already an uneconomic source of energy.  This may be a setback, but Climate Reality and other groups will continue to make the voices of Americans heard in this fight against pipelines that carry tar sands – one of the dirtiest fuels on earth.”
