Tanksi Clairmont (Pte' Sa Sapa Winyan - Black Buffalo Calf Woman) is an enrolled tribal member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota from Sisseton, SD and Sicangu Lakota from Rosebud, SD. She was born and raised in Denver, CO and is a mother to three wonderful children and a champion powwow dancer. Tanksi is the managing director of the Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund, a tribal-led and tribal-focused grantmaking program at GRID Alternatives, a national nonprofit leader in solar energy. She has worked in Indian Country on energy policy and advocating for tribal issues in energy and higher education. She is a founding member of the American Indian Academy of Denver and in her spare time conducts research and collects data on Native American collegiate and professional athletes. Her personal and professional goals are focused on improvement, advancement, and capacity building across Indian Country, specifically to help address the unique economic, social, and environmental needs by developing and strengthening relationships with tribal community changemakers, key federal and state relations, philanthropic funders, and industry stakeholders.
