Two-day Climate Reality Leadership Corps training to bring together participants from across the region from 8–9 September 2026
Al Gore Honors Nazrin Camille D. Castro with Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award during Singapore Climate Reality Leadership Training
Singapore (10 September 2026) – Yesterday, former US Vice President and founder of The Climate Reality Project, Al Gore, concluded a two-day Leadership Corps training in Singapore by presenting the Alfredo Sirkis Memorial Green Ring Award to former Branch Manager of The Climate Reality Project Philippines, Nazrin Camille “Nazca” Castro. The award, named in honor of the Brazilian climate advocate Alfredo Sirkis, is the highest honor given by The Climate Reality Project, recognizing Climate Reality Leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to climate education and advocacy.
“Nazca is a transformational climate leader and advocate in the Philippines,” said Phyllis Cuttino, president and CEO of The Climate Reality Project. “Through her passion and innovative leadership, she oversaw enormous growth of the Climate Reality branch’s membership and played a pivotal role in changing the playing field for climate action in the Philippines and abroad.”
A tireless advocate for the nations at the frontlines of the climate crisis, Nazca created a blueprint for how grassroots advocacy can drive impactful change. Under her leadership, the Philippines branch became a shining model of the power of the Climate Reality network, doubling the number of Leaders in the country. During her five-year tenure, the branch launched flagship programs like Klima Eskwela (Climate School) and Klima Pandayan (Climate Skills). Programs that equipped hundreds of youth, government officials, and advocates with the knowledge and resources to build advocacy efforts, fight plastic pollution and climate, and champion climate solutions like clean energy and sustainable transportation.
Nazca, who was trained in 2020 during the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Global Virtual Training, translated advocacy into action by supporting the implementation of the Green Energy Option Program (GEOP) that now enabled nearly a thousand large energy consumers to switch to clean energy, advocating for debt relief and fairer climate finance for the Global South with the World Bank and IMF, and pioneering programs to advance active transport and improve green mobility infrastructure.
