Sophia Powless (she/her) is an Indigenous climate educator, artist, and activist committed to fostering a deep understanding of climate issues and amplifying the voices and experiences of Indigenous communities. As a graduate of the inaugural class of the Columbia Climate School, Sophia holds a Master of Arts in climate & society and earned her BA in environmental studies from Adelphi University. She co-created the first celebration honoring Native American Heritage Month at Adelphi University and has spoken at SUNY ESF, SOY NYC Hub, LCOY USA, and CEJ Women’s Environmental Leadership Summit on climate change gamification, the Seventh Generation Principle, and the importance of being one mind to continuing to preserve what is here today for tomorrow.
