Bárbara Saavedra
Senior Director, Wildlife Conservation Society Chile
Bárbara Saavedra is an ecology and evolutionary biology PhD and an expert in scientific biodiversity conservation practices. She designs and facilitates programs that help people understand the natural order of sustainability and recognize the inalienable value of biodiversity for the present and future well-being of societies and economies. From 2005 to 2025, she led Wildlife Conservation Society Chile’s Karukinka Park, a biodiversity conservation center and platform in Tierra del Fuego, Chile. She has spearheaded efforts to identify, assess and protect ecosystems critical to local and global well-being, including peatlands and coastal areas, promoting a holistic, scientific, and effective approach to conservation management. She is also a member of several public and private committees and councils.
