(She/Her) Itzel Morales Lagunes  graduated as a biochemical engineer from the Mérida Institute of Technology and holds a master's degree in climate change from Heriot Watt University. In 2014, she received the State Youth Award in the category of environmental protection of the State of Campeche. She was awarded the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship from the US Department of State in 2016 to spend a year of professional development studying at the University of California, Davis. In 2019, she was recognized as an Extraordinary Woman from Campeche. Since 2021, she is a consultant for the USFS Climate Change Community of Learning and Practice.
