Matías Antonio Cortés Calderón

Matías Cortés is a political scientist specialized in environmental politics. He previously worked as staff advisor in the Constitutional Convention and Constitutional Council in Chile, as well as a consultant in sustainability and in studies linking foresight to environmental decision-making by IDEA International. Within CEUS Chile, he’s worked as content director, just energy transition specialist, and since August 2025, he’s fulfilled the role of executive director. He published "Towards the Democratization of the Chilean Forestry Industry: Surveying Contemporary Democratic Deficits" in the book "Rethinking Climate Change, Security, and Politics" published by Springer Nature in 2025, as part of the efforts of IPSA's RC52.
