Nyaguthii Chege is chair of the board directors of the Green Belt Movement. She also serves on the boards of the Wangari Maathai Foundation and Restor Foundation. Nyaguthii has experience working in the public and private sectors in Kenya, China, and the US. Most recently, she was the director of the East Africa Hub of Natural Justice, a Pan-African nongovernmental organization of environmental and climate justice lawyers.  
 
Nyaguthii graduated from Columbia University School of Law with a Juris Doctor and received a masters in international affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs, also at Columbia University. She earned a BA in government from Dartmouth College.
