Rachel Cheang
Co-Founder, Birdseye Climate
Rachel co-founded Birdseye Climate (previously Energy CoLab) in 2022 to address gaps in energy education, focusing on the often-overlooked social and environmental impacts of energy systems in Southeast Asia. Through education, research and advocacy, Energy CoLab aims to advance a more responsible energy transition across the region. Her work in social and environmental impact began with a formative experience in her final year at UBC, where she designed and led an interdisciplinary climate justice course. The course was further developed into a community-oriented certificate in climate action and culminated in a student-driven campaign calling on the university to divest from fossil fuels and invest in local economic institutions.
