Dr. Rebekah Shirley is the deputy director for Africa at the World Resources Institute, leading local teams to deliver sustainable solutions for people, nature, and climate. Prior to joining WRI, Rebekah was the chief of research at Power for All, where she launched major research-based campaigns, including Powering Jobs and Utilities of the Future, demonstrating novel solutions for advancing energy access across the globe. Rebekah earned her PhD in energy resources as a Chancellor’s Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. Rebekah is a TED speaker and has received many Young Leader awards for her work, scholarship, and public speaking. Hailing from the Caribbean, Rebekah now lives in Nairobi, Kenya.
