Urge your senators to protect rules to limit methane emissions

In 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a new rule requiring oil and gas facilities to reduce leaks and use new technology to limit emissions. And ever since then, the industry has been quietly lobbying to stop it.

This summer, the industry got its wish when new EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin hit pause on rules until 2027. Now the Senate is expected to vote on a resolution to stop the Trump administration’s EPA from rolling back these critical rules for the oil and gas industry.

Methane is a powerful climate pollutant, with over 80 times the global warming potential of CO2 over the short term. Experts project the delay could mean the equivalent emissions of 25 million gas cars driven for a year entering the atmosphere. All at a time of rapidly rising temperatures and increasing climate disasters worldwide.

Act now: Tell your senators to vote YES on S.J. Res 76 to keep limits on methane emissions — protecting Americans’ health and slowing the effects of climate change.
