Dear George Will: Yes, it’s getting hotterThis past Sunday, George Will had a classic “back in my day…” moment when he chastised people for raising concerns about the record-breaking heat that has swept across the country. According to George Will: “How do we explain the heat? One word: Summer." Of course, what is so unusual is that nearly 2,300 daily high temperature records were broken in June alone; including in Illinois, which experienced its hottest spring on record.

It's hotSo it's hot. It's hot in Atlanta, it's hot in Vermont and it's hot everywhere in between. But just how hot is it? This month, more than 3,000 daytime high temperatures and almost 2,000 nighttime lows were tied or broken across the United States in June.

Hot or not? #ImtoohotSummers in DC are brutal, and they are only getting hotter, more humid and more sticky. My walk to work is unbearable, and I know my colleagues in Boulder aren't faring much better. You and I know this is related to climate change. But not everyone makes the connection.

Who were the real leaders in Rio?A few days ago, the United Nations Earth Summit 2012 concluded in Rio, 20 years after the first summit in 1992. The UN officially billed this conference as the one that would deliver to us a clear road map to the future we want. Now that the conference has wrapped up, the consensus seems to be that political leaders from around the world failed to move nations in the right direction. But that's not the whole story.

What does 2.1 million comments look like?This morning several Climate Reality staffers and I made the short walk over to the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters to drop off more than 105,000 comments in support of the new carbon pollution standard.
