Hallie Turner, the Science and Solutions intern, is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she is receiving a B.S. in environmental science. Having grown up in North Carolina as an active participant in environmental organizing since elementary school, she is passionate about climate solutions that support historically marginalized communities in the American South. She is a Climate Reality Leader and served as a petitioner and plaintiff in a partnership between Our Children’s Trust and the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Clinic to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in NC. She hopes to use her public policy minor to bridge the gap between environmental science and policy, and she has broad interests that include plant ecology, renewable energy, environmental justice, and philosophy. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, attending concerts, and backpacking. She has no preference for what pronouns are used to refer to her as long as they’re respectful.
