Tell the Export-Import Bank: No Fossil Fuel Projects

An image of fossil fuel extraction.

At a time when we need climate leadership from the wealthiest nations, the United States is still funneling massive sums to dangerous fossil fuel projects both at home and abroad.

In 2021, the US committed to end support for unabated fossil fuel projects overseas. But the Export-Import Bank of the United States, an export credit agency, continues to use its public authority and millions in taxpayer dollars to facilitate oil and gas infrastructure that harms communities abroad and accelerates warming for all of us.

Recently, the Export-Import Bank approved $500 million to significantly scale up oil and gas production in Bahrain. And that’s just one example of many.

It’s time to phase out the fossil fuels driving the climate crisis. Which means ending all funding for coal, oil, and gas worldwide.

Tell the leadership of the Export-Import Bank to stop the public financing of fossil fuels.
