Al Gore and Climate Reality Leaders to Highlight Climate Solutions and Hope During 24 Hours of Reality 

For 24 hours on October 7, Climate Reality will share the ways people and communities across continents are working toward climate solutions and encourage the public to get involved.

Washington, DC (September 13, 2022) – On Friday October 7, former US Vice President Al Gore and climate advocates around the world will present stories of climate solutions within their cities, towns, communities, and countries for Climate Reality’s annual 24 Hours of Reality event, 24 Hours of Reality: Spotlight on Solutions and Hope. 

“On the heels of landmark climate legislation in both the US and Australia, momentum continues to grow for innovative solutions that will protect people and our planet from the impacts of the climate crisis, reduce global warming pollution, and strengthen communities,” said Climate Reality’s founder and chairman, Former US Vice President Al Gore. “On October 7, we will spend 24 hours shining a spotlight on global efforts that are generating hope for the future.  I look forward to sharing the stories of many remarkable activists.” 

For 24 hours, Climate Reality will highlight local leaders fighting the climate crisis and environmental injustice in their communities – including four live global dialogues moderated by Vice President Gore – with a focus on four key areas:  

  1. Accelerating a just transition to clean energy. 
  2. Expanding zero-emission transportation and transit. 
  3. Creating inclusive green communities. 
  4. Advancing natural solutions. 

 

Through wide-ranging presentations and conversation, climate advocates around the world will share knowledge of effective solutions and what the public can do to tackle both rising temperatures and inequality in their communities.   It will also serve as a reminder to cities, states and nations, that they must meet the moment with decisive action. At the UN’s COP 27 climate conference in November, The Climate Reality Project will be amplifying local community solutions and pushing the international community to go further, faster.  

24 Hours of Reality: Spotlight on Solutions and Hope is a continuation of The Climate Reality Project’s long-standing 24 Hours of Reality program. Beginning as an annual broadcast and shifting to a day of action, the event aims to promote and inspire grassroots advocacy for a full day around the globe.
