Minneapolis, MN (9 August 2019) – Former US Vice President and Climate Reality Chairman Al Gore honored Jennifer Linton from Chicago with The Climate Reality Project’s Green Ring Award at the organization’s recent Climate Reality Leadership Corps training in Minneapolis, MN. The Green Ring Award is presented to outstanding Climate Reality Leaders who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to their role as climate communicators.

A graphic designer and committed climate activist, Linton was trained as a Climate Reality Leader in Miami in 2015. She helped launch and is currently chair of Climate Reality's Chicago Chapter, which was part of a coalition that campaigned successfully to make Chicago the largest city in the United States to commit to 100 percent clean, renewable energy.

“Jennifer has an impressive ability to unite, inspire, and empower her community to act on climate, and we are proud to present her with the Green Ring Award in Minneapolis,” said Ken Berlin, president and CEO of The Climate Reality Project. “Her passion for organizing and activism to enact societal change is inspiring, and her commitment to empowering others exemplifies what it means to be a Climate Reality Leader.”

More than 1,100 people gathered in Minneapolis to be trained as Climate Reality Leaders by elected officials, business leaders, communications experts, scientists, and Al Gore. These new Climate Reality Leaders emerged from the training empowered with the skills and knowledge to address the climate crisis, communicate with different audiences, and implement fair and ambitious climate solutions with their communities.

In addition to starting and leading the Chicago chapter, Linton has served as a mentor at six Climate Reality Leadership Corps trainings and logged over 300 Acts of Leadership raising awareness of the crisis and mobilizing communities to act.

“I am so honored to be recognized by Vice President Al Gore and to receive Climate Reality’s Green Ring Award,” said Linton. “Being trained as a Climate Reality Leader completely changed the trajectory of my life. I'm grateful for the deep purpose I’ve found, and thankful for the opportunity to use my skills to make real, positive and lasting change in my community.”
