Al Gore, Ted Ligety to Attend Nov. 17 Screening of Warren Miller’s Flow State in Denver

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 8, 2012 CONTACT: Bill Rigler, +1-917-415-0612,

Boulder, CO (Nov. 8, 2012) — Warren Miller Entertainment and the Climate Reality Project jointly announced today that former US Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore will join an all-star cast of professional skiers in Denver for the November 17th screening of Flow State, the 63rd annual Warren Miller film. Olympian Ted Ligety, one of the stars in the movie, will join the former Vice President onstage for a special address during intermission of the 6pm show.

The duo will discuss the “I Am Pro Snow” campaign, an initiative aimed at raising awareness of the impacts of climate change on winter sports.

“Our goal in establishing a partnership with The Climate Reality Project is to ensure that our ski community can continue to enjoy the winter lifestyle for years to come. We want to open the dialogue between policy makers, world-renowned athletes, resorts and our fans, to advocate for climate change awareness,” said Johnny Alamo, Warren Miller Entertainment Executive Director of Partnerships & Strategic Alliances. “Former Vice President Gore and Ted Ligety have been instrumental in supporting the ‘I Am Pro Snow’ campaign, and everyone at Warren Miller Entertainment is honored to have them join us in Denver.”

“I Am Pro Snow is an exciting new campaign to give voice to the families, the businesses, and the outdoor enthusiasts everywhere,” said Maggie L. Fox, President and CEO of the Colorado-based Climate Reality Project. “We need to start connecting the dots between shorter and less reliable ski seasons and climate change, and we are delighted to work with our new Climate Ambassadors like Olympians Ted Ligety and Kaylin Richardson to ensure that we are all Pro Snow now and far into the future.”

Warren Miller’s Flow State guides viewers to the top of the world’s most striking peaks, taking us on an exhilarating journey across the globe. The film closes with an epic adventure to north of the Arctic Circle, where a vast landscape of glaciers, icy water and untouched snow are being threatened by climate change. Join expedition leader Doug Stoup and Helly Hansen athletes Jackie Paaso and Aurélien Ducroz as they board a 62-foot sailboat and setout to explore Svalbard, Norway. Watch as these elite athletes are struck firsthand by the effects of climate change, as ice melt allows them to access a landscape that was previously unreachable by water. To the average person, this frozen tundra doesn’t offer much—no shelter, no hot meals and no first-world conveniences. But, to these adventure skiers, it holds some of the most unique terrain on earth.
