Boulder, Colorado (January 22, 2014) – The Climate Reality Project’s I AM PRO SNOW campaign – now in its third year – is proud to partner with key stakeholders to expand the conversation around climate change to the members of the winter sports community. This grassroots initiative brings together skiers, riders, and winter sports enthusiasts most affected by warming winters and shorter seasons to advance the dialogue about the threats climate change poses, generate solutions, and mobilize for action.

I AM PRO SNOW is pleased to announce our newest Climate Ambassadors: Marcus CastonSierra Quitiquit and Meghan Kelly. These Climate Ambassadors join an exceptional group of athletes dedicated to sharing their personal stories of how climate change is impacting their lives. I AM PRO SNOW Climate Ambassadors include Olympians Ted Ligety and Kaylin Richardson, and professional snow athletes Doug Stoup, Jackie Paaso, Chris Anthony, Julian Carr, Blake Nyman, Keely Kelleher, Mark Abma and Michelle Parker.

“The Climate Reality Project’s I AM PRO SNOW campaign is excited to join the Outdoor Retailer Expo in Salt Lake City and find opportunities to partner with businesses, athletes and organizations who want to stand for snow,” said Ken Sanguin, Strategic Partnerships Associate Director of The Climate Reality Project. “I AM PRO SNOW stands with the athletes, small businesses, families, and communities that depend on snow to survive and thrive. We look forward to engaging with the skiing community and together mobilizing in the fight against climate change.”

I AM PRO SNOW is proud to partner with key members of the winter sports community, including legendary Warren Miller Entertainment, as well as outdoor retailers and partners including NASTARIcelantic SkisWagner snowboardsDiscrete HeadwearPatagoniaFolsom SkisJ SkisUS Green Building Council Montana Chapter, Moonlight Basin Resort, 1% for the PlanetCool Planet SkiersAmerican Birkiebeiner and more.

“Helping the winter sports community understand the climate crisis is an important step towards helping people understand the cost that carbon pollution has on all of our lives – in this case, it manifests as shorter ski seasons and poor snow. We’re witnessing the impacts of climate change firsthand as competitions are canceled due to low snow, resorts shrink their seasons, and we all see a lot less powder. The good news is that if we work together, we can stop climate change in its tracks and look forward to many more years of fresh tracks,” said Sanguin.
