ChezaCheza

Kenyan non-profit

SHARE

ChezaCheza is a Kenyan non-profit founded in 2018 that uses the power of dance to educate, heal, and empower children and youth from marginalized communities. ChezaCheza’s aim is to increase access to safe and stress-free spaces through dance to help children and youth learn skills and tools to navigate everyday life challenges and realize and utilize their full potential. In Kenya, more than 1.8 million boys and girls between 10 and 18 struggle with mental health, a scarcity mindset, and thinking poverty defines people. They live in a chronic environment of stress, with high levels of violence, abuse, and high risk of school dropout. ChezaCheza works exclusively with young, community-based dance educators who create safe and stress-free learning spaces in their communities where dance is a tool for expression, releasing stress, and building confidence, and offers a key to the door of opportunities. ChezaCheza envisions a world where every child and every youth are empowered to realize their full potential and are presented with equal opportunities no matter where they are from.
